Non-Slam Air Valves are used to prevent pipeline bursts, as a result of intake/discharge failure in the start-up and shut-off of the system, as a result of pressurized air pockets that are formed during the operation and as a result of water hammer that can form during the start-up of the system or during the operation by column separation. These valves consist of a body which holds two floats in different chambers, that are positioned at a predetermined height, and a check feature at the end of the large chamber. The check feature prevents the exhaust of large volumes of air in a short time in case of a possible water hammer. This feature allows the air pockets to stay inside the system for a while to act as a cushion, and these pockets are exhausted through the small chamber in time, with a low velocity. In case of a column separation where large volumes of air should be presented to the system for the prevention of water hammer, all chambers are opened to intake large amounts of air to the pipeline in a short amount of time. Non-Slam Air Valves are constructed as full bore with high discharge/intake capacities. DVD Air Valves can be manufactured from GG25, GGG40 – 40.3 – 50, GSC25, SS304, SS316 and NAB materials.
